I absolutely love haiku poetry. It seems easy, but it’s a real art-form. You need to work within a very small, structured space to create a strong image or feeling.

I am very tired and having a break from report writing. I found myself gazing at the candle on my coffee table and drifting off…then this haiku came into my head.

    The flickering flame
    Dancing over the candle
    Makes me feel sleepy

I know haiku are meant to be about nature, but I think fire is a part of nature, so I haven’t bent the rules too much. What do you think of my effort, Mrs. Ryan?

On Inventor’s day I walked into class (I was carrying a lot of boxes). Then we said our prayer and then the teachers talked to the whole group about our first activity. Then we did some scampering with parents and it was fun. We had to pack up and come up from the pit and we shared our scamper with the teachers and parents. We started to collect our boxes and start to work our group (Tim, Carlos, Rose, Joe, Sebastian, Luana, Katia and I) made a D-SEL plant it was named Sally. Some of the materials we used were a cardboard tube, paper plate and straws. I was impressed with how much it looked like a D-SEL plant. At assembly later that day, we pressented our invention to the school (it was kind of broken).

The Literacy grammar quiz is a great challenge for people who want to give themselves a challenge at grammar. The first time I got a few wrong, but then on my second try I got every answer correct!
    Have a try!
